My Favorite Imported Winter Flowers

I’ve never been a winter person, but what gets me through the long, Maine winters are the flowers.
Below is a list of some of my favorite imported flowers to work with December through February.

Double Tulip- any and all varieties

Hellebore- long lasting and simply beautiful

Amaryllis- a fantastic long lasting “focal” flower

Cymbidium Orchid- one of the longest lasting flowers available

Ranunculus- no explanation needed

Sweet Pea- the most incredible fragrance

Allium Neapolitanum- a light and airy long lasting flower

Hyacinth- ‘Sky Jacket’ is one of my favorites for its unique color

Rose- the bigger, the better and ‘Dark Xpression’ is a powerhouse

Frittilaria meleagris- a whimsical and graceful accent flower

Muscari- small and sweet and a nice surprise in arrangements

Allium ‘Gladiator’- a pretty color and a fun shape

Nerine Lily- long lasting with tall, thin stems

Clematis ‘Star River’- a staple in many of my arrangements for its graceful lines
